چکیده

This CT-scan shows an ossification of the flap of two intercostal muscles 6 months after a carinal resection with reconstruction of the tracheo-bronchial tree using the Barclay’s technique in a 39-year-old patient with a lowerthird tracheal adenoid cystic carcinoma. Some degree of stenosis can also be seen at the level of the right main bronchus. A stent was placed but migrated. The picture is striking, because it looks like a hangman’s noose around the neck (Figs. 1 and 2). Recurrence was ruled out. Two years later the images have not changed. The patient is asymptomatic and continues to lead an active life although there is a slight decrease in lung function tests. Long-term Outcomes after Primary Radial Head Resection Arthroplasty vs. Acute Radial Head Resection vs. Secondary Prosthetic Removal in Comminuted Radial Head Fractures

Background: Aim of this study was to compare the clinical and radiological long-term outcomes following operativetreatment of comminuted radial head fractures using 1) primary radial head resection arthroplasty, 2) acute radial headresection, or 3) necessary secondary prosthetic removal. Additionally, we evaluated complex radial head fracturescombined with elbow dislocation and verified the hyp...

Successful Use of Intercostal Muscle Flap in Cavitary Lung Lesions

Background: Lung cavities sometimes result from a number of pathological processes including suppurative necrosis, caseous necrosis, ischemic necrosis and cystic dilatation of lung structures. The aim of this study is to evaluate the use of intercostals muscle flap as a successful method to fill the lung cavity for reduction of symptoms and treatment of patients presented with symptomatic pulmo...

Submental Artery Island Flap in Reconstruction of Harde Plate after wide Surgical Resection of Veruccous Carcinoma. Two case reports

Introduction: Reconstruction of intraoral soft tissue defects is important in restoring function and esthetic. In large defects, there will be demand for regional pedicle flaps or free flaps. Hard palate separates nasal and oral cavities. Due to the small surface area between flap and remaining palate after surgical resections, optimal blood supply of the flaps for hard palate reconstructions ...

Effects of oral gavage treatment of Eupatilin on protection of skin flaps in rats

Introduction: Nowadays, skin flaps are used to repair wounds, skin lesions and in reconstructive surgeries. In this way, the main problem is loss of flap tissue and necrosis, due to processes that result from ischemia-reperfusion injury and reactive oxygen species. Eupatilin is an O-methylated flavone derived from Artemisia plants that demonstrates anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative, and anti-tu...
